job hunting

Dear all,

Sorry it has been so quiet. I have been on the look out for new part time jobs and been furiously writing out applications. More (interesting) posts coming soon!

  1. Good luck, good luck, good luck with the job hunting. I've just given up on the archive world, with huge regret, and returned to pensions.

  2. It is a difficult time. Everyone I know is clinging on to their work for dear life and it is very competitive out there. Such a shame.. you will still be carrying on the Portsmouth blog for the forseeable future?? You always have such interesting posts!

  3. Thanks for your kind words. I will keep posting, I really enjoy it. It will also give me an excuse to go into record offices to research! I'll never lose my love of archives!

  4. Good luck with the job hunting! The fixed-term contract nature of so many archive jobs can be both positive and very negative. I like working fixed-term as it means that, starting out in the profession, you get a variety of experience. However, with my contract due to end this summer the negative aspects i.e. where to get another job, the sadness about leaving behind all the wonderful material I've been working with - these are really starting to outweight the positive aspects! I hope something comes up for you soon.
