News

It has been a while since my last post but so many things have been happening I haven’t had a chance to write it all down.

1) Have tracked down a conservator thanks for the ideas and messages off the blog! Now in the stage of deciding what to do as she gave me an awful lot to think about and discuss with the concerned parties. More conservation supplies a coming – hurrah!

2) Taken on more work and hoping for a bit more coming soon. Fingers crossed and watch this space!

3) Started doing a little professional development and it is taking me to Glasgow! Attending Capturing Creativity at the Glasgow School of Art. If anyone knows any good hotels in that area do leave a little note. Expect a mini report of the day :)

Also a much cheaper/free day up in London in June, The Collection Management Exhibition – thought it looked interesting and may be good for networking and spreading my name.

  1. Hello,

I'll see you tomorrow then as I'm also attending the Capturing Creativity afternoon. Did you get accomodation sorted out? I'm sure you have your own ideas of what you'd like to do if you have spare time but if you haven't been to Glasgow before and would like any suggestions just get in touch - k.m.mackenzie1 at stir.ac.uk

  2. Hey Kathryn,

That's great thanks. Yes I did get my accomodation sorted out thankfully, staying at a hotel on Elmbank Street, only a few streets away from Renfrew St. I have booked a place at the Willow Tea Rooms and not sure when I can book into my room at the hotel. Any suggestions are gratefully received .. I will be up at 4am tomorrow so you may have to bear with me if I am a little slow.

Will be lovely to finally meet you.

  3. The Willow Tea Rooms are lovely - enjoy. The tour of the Glasgow Art School is really interesting but I guess you'll see quite a bit of that in the afternoon anyway. The CCA (just down the road from the Art School on Sauchiehall Street) has a really interesting exhibition on at the moment with beautiful drawings by Kate Davis and Faith Wilding. And 'Where the Monkey Sleeps' www.monkeysleeps.com does really amazing sandwiches (and again it's not far from the art school - they even have an outlet in the art school I think). See you tomorrow afternoon!
